Chief Information Officer, Global Automotive Services, Ally Financial Services
Spencer Cremers is chief information officer for Ally Financial’s Global Automotive Services unit, responsible for delivering and supporting technology solutions that enable the auto finance and insurance businesses. In this role, Spencer focuses on enabling a broad array of products and services for automotive dealers through robust, user-friendly technology.
Cremers was the chief strategy officer for the GMAC Information Technology Group from September 2006 to August 2008. In this role, he had global responsibility for information technology planning, performance management, process improvement and organizational and operational strategy.
From October 2002 to August 2006, Cremers was a founding partner at 4Gen Consulting, providing IT strategy consulting services to clients in the automotive and financial services industries. He worked closely with GMAC during this period, leading and supporting a series of initiatives, including a major outsourcing initiative, IT cost-reduction efforts, organizational integration and human resource planning. As a founding partner, he contributed to the creation and growth of the specialty management consulting firm.
Prior to forming 4Gen Consulting, Cremers worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting for eight years as a principal consultant where he led IT consulting engagements in their automotive practice. With a focus on ERP and Procurement solutions, Cremers led and supported a number of large, multi-year systems implementation projects, including the deployment of a Web-based indirect procurement solution at General Motors North America and the implementation of a major ERP solution at General Motors Europe.
Cremers earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Iowa.
